Introduction to Theatre (Saturday, March 18)
The students will be introduced to the skill sets, theatre vocabulary, and knowledge base needed by young performers to sustain a performance and grow as an artist. Through creative play, pantomime, improvisation, reading and acting out familiar stories and characters, they will become familiar with the “Actors Toolbox” and the concepts of observation, character connection, emotional comprehension, and listening and focusing skills.
The Musical Theatre Voice (Saturday, April 29)
Step into the world of Musical Theater and learn how to create a character through song and music. We will begin to reinforce performance techniques including vocal pitch, articulation, and projection. The young performer will become more confident on stage and learn how to approach a musical audition, choose which song to sing and to begin to build a repertoire.
Movement for the Stage (Saturday, May 13)
Love to dance? This workshop explores all styles of dance technique with a focus on Musical Theater. Dancers from beginner to advanced will learn the proper way to warm-up, terminology, and fun choreography. Whether a beginner or Advanced, this workshop enhances the young performer’s ability to be a well-rounded dancer and begin to gain the confidence of a dancer.

Jarrett earned a B.F.A in Musical Theatre from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Jarrett's talents took him to the Tampa Bay region of Florida, where he taught in various programs for elementary and middle school children. During his time in Florida, Jarrett was awarded Best Choreographer three times, for his work with Stage West and Mad Theatre. In Banner Elk, Jarrett has appeared in numerous Lees-McRae Summer Theatre productions and currently he serves as the Director of Banner Elk Presbyterian Church Preschool.
